ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) — Competition is part of the atmosphere at any sporting event, and two opponents were able to incorporate that element into a fundraising effort to help fight cancer.
Elmira and Edison JV and Varsity basketball teams competed on the court and teamed up to raise donations for the Josh Palmer Fund. Elmira’s Ellie Clearwater and Edison’s Payton Littlefield were organizers in helping the matchup become a fundraising event, called the Hooping for Hope game.

“We knew that if we did the Josh Palmer fund, we would get so much local support because the fund does so much for local patients every single day,” said Littlefield. So that’s why we chose this foundation to donate to today, and it’s just crazy the amount of support we’ve had.”
