GRANTS PASS, Ore– The Josephine County Food Bank is seeking volunteers to help at the bank, but also at the Raptor Creek Farm, their farm that is run by the foodbank whose complete production of produce goes to the foodbank.
The food bank feeds around 18,000 people every month, with their emergency food services going to about 1 in 5 people in the county. Most of the 2.4 million pounds of food given out in 2023 was fresh produce. 381,700 servings of the produce was grown in the Raptor Creek farm.
Josephine Sze, the food bank’s executive director said, “ We made a commitment to our community and to ourselves that we were going to keep nutrition at the forefront of what we do.” Sze said “[This] is why we started Raptor Creek Farms [so] that we could always have a fresh supply of organic vegetables for our community.”
