Magnitude 4.6 earthquake shakes Disneyland [Video]

As of 3:45 p.m., most of the rides at the Disneyland Resort returned to operation.

ANAHEIM, Calif. — A strong earthquake centered near Malibu gave a jarring shake that disrupted visitors at the Happiest Place on Earth.

The magnitude of 4.6 earthquake that struck at 1:47 p.m. on Friday, sent tremors as far as south as Anaheim, momentarily halting rides at the Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Park at the Disneyland Resort.

Video shared with CBS 8 by Nick with EJay’s Adventures showed Disneyland guests reacting to the earthquake moments after the shaking ended.

Nick told CBS 8 that he didn’t feel any shaking but rides were paused for about 30 minutes.  He said there wasn’t any panic, and guests remained calm in the moments following the earthquake. 

Nick said Disneyland staff and cast members showed professionalism as employees completed emergency procedures.
