Nearly 200 North Medford High School students held a walk out on Thursday, protesting proposed budget cuts by the Medford School District as a result of state funding shortfalls.

MEDFORD, Ore. – Nearly 200 North Medford High School students held a walk out on Thursday, protesting proposed budget cuts by the Medford School District as a result of state funding shortfalls.

These budget cuts will result in some elective courses being cut and most notably remove the role of librarians for all of the high schools in the district.

“It’s crazy to even talk about a school not having a librarian,” said the protest organizer Brendan Boone. “That’s incredibly essential and incredibly important to so many people.”

As a response to this the students held their protest where they marched to the corner of Crater Lake Avenue and McAndrews before heading to the MSD district office.
