FINDLAY, Ohio — The Findlay and Hancock County community will soon be asked to support a major expansion plan at the Findlay YMCA.
The Findlay YMCA was first built in the 1960s and renovated in the early 2000’s.
But with 8,300 members, this aging facility is starting to outgrow the YMCA’s needs.
This is why leaders have announced plans to build a new, 96,000-square-foot facility just behind the current building.
“We looked at lots of opportunities to possibly do a renovation, but it was not cost effective, and we weren’t going to get an efficient building like a new facility,” said Findlay YMCA Chief Executive Officer Stephanie Parsons.
