New playground at Norton Children’s Autism Center gives children the chance to learn through play | Community [Video]

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Children with autism now have a new playground to make learning fun at Kentucky’s only autism center.

Thursday, the Norton Children’s Autism Center, located at 2933 Breckenridge Lane, dedicated its new playground.

The playground encourages learning through sensory features in the playground, helping patients overcome anxieties and sensitivities. Doctors said the playground will allow patients to have more fun while providing necessary treatment and research opportunities.

The autism center is the only one in Kentucky and provides a wide array of health, educational and behavioral services to children with autism.

The Norton Children’s Hospital Foundation gave $350,000 for the project, which was raised through donations.
