Nonprofit providing families shelter in Spartanburg announces closure [Video]

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – A long-standing non-profit in Spartanburg will close for good at the end of this month. The Haven Community Solutions currently provides shelter for several families experiencing homelessness.

It will be the second major homeless resource to close in Spartanburg in less than a year. So once again homeless service providers are scrambling to fill the gap that will be left behind.

In a Facebook post Wednesday The Haven announced February will be their last month serving.

“The upstate of South Carolina has the highest rate of children living or experiencing homelessness,” said Hannah Jarrett, the Vice President of Community & Collective Impact, United Way of the Piedmont.
