NWA army veteran becomes the recipient of custom-made home [Video]

PEA RIDGE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — The Pea Ridge community comes together as a nonprofit organization, “Homes For Our Troops,” is donating a custom-made home in Pea Ridge for army veteran Sergeant Andrew Butterworth and his family.

Since 2004, the organization has built over 371 homes nationally for veterans who have sustained injuries such as paralysis, traumatic brain injuries, and limb amputations.

Nonprofit opens first crisis center in Johnson County

Army Sgt. Butterworth lost his right leg in 2004 while on patrol in Iraq when two rockets propelled grenades struck his vehicle. Sgt. Butterworth and his wife Julia have prosthetics and face challenges as they raise their three children.

Both say they struggle with getting through doors, maneuvering around the kitchen or sometimes getting outside to play with their children. That’s why he says he couldn’t be more grateful for what’s in store.
