Fall is just around the corner, and this year you won’t have to travel to New England or northern Michigan to experience fall foliage because Texas will have the best color in the country.
New York Travel Guides, a digital travel publication, recently ranked Lost Maples State Natural Area in Vanderpool, Texas as having some of the best fall foliage in the U.S.
The publication rated over 600 state parks throughout the country on their fall colors, fall photography popularity and overall reviews to inform the ranking. Based on the prevalence of its Bigtooth Maple trees, Lost Maples, located two hours northwest of San Antonio, takes the top spot.
And Fall foliage isn’t the only visual phenomenon we can experience at Lost Maples. The park is situated in the path of totality for two upcoming eclipses.
