Paralysed woman breaks record swimming Channel with complete spinal injury

Ouman became the first person with a complete spinal cord injury to swim in the English Channel – without a wetsuit. Part of the relay team.

Craig, 59, was one of six swimmers who cruised from Dover, England, to France at 2:48 a.m. on August 4, covering 21 miles in a total of 14 hours and 3 minutes.
Everyone swam for an hour in turns until they reached France, and Craig swam for two hours.

The former police officer and marathon runner from the coastal town of Fishguard, Wales, has completed a fundraising challenge for Aspire, the national spine injury charity she has supported since the accident, raising an astonishing 23,492 Britons upon her arrival in France.
