PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Middle school students in Rhode Island can now apply for the Providence Performing Arts Center’s ARTS Scholarships program.
According to PPAC, 60 to 80 students will be able to receive up to $600 in funding to attend arts-related camps and other educational opportunities of their choosing over the summer.
Applicants must be grade 6, 7 or 8 (or the home school equivalent) and demonstrate need, be it financial or otherwise, as well as an interest in the arts.
More than 700 ARTS scholarships have been awarded since the program launched in 1996, according to PPAC marketing director P.J. Prokop. He said they chose middle school students since “it is a time in their lives when they are developing their interests and passions.”
The deadline to submit an application is 12 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20. Visit PPAC’s website to learn more about the program and apply.
