MORRISVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) — To help combat the growth of passengers traveling through Raleigh-Durham International Airport, officials have opened two more TSA checkpoints.
The new lanes are in Terminal 2. The airport now has 12 security checkpoints.

Officials said passenger volume increased by 6.2% in April — 571,694 passengers boarded flights at RDU that month alone.
To further curb airport traffic, Frontier, Spirit and Allegiance airlines will be moved to Terminal 1 by 2020.
“We’re going to take them and put them over in Terminal 1, which has additional capacity to again reduce some of the congestion we have at Terminal 2, (to) provide a better experience so our customers can get through security quicker,” said Michael Landguth, president and CEO of the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority. “The addition of the new checkpoint lanes will help RDU keep pace with tremendous growth and keep wait times down during the busy summer travel months.
