Members and volunteers with the Quilts of Valor sew throughout Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024 to celebrate Quilts of Valor National Sew Day at the American Legion in Twin Falls.
Lynn Hedberg, a member with Quilts of Valor, dedicated herself fulltime after retiring in 2021. “It’s a way to get together, enjoy each other’s company, learn from each other, and do it for our veterans,” Hedberg said. “I’ve always sewn, but then my friends that I have here, really good friends, they told me about it and invited me to come. It’s very heartwarming.”
Each year, Quilts of Valor sews about 50 quilts that are gifted to veterans during ceremonies they hold every few months. To fundraise for the fabric used, every year members sell raffle tickets for a large quilt that is handmade, and the winner is pulled on Veterans Day.
