International travellers at Calgary’s International Airport say its time to do away with COVID-19 border measures and travel restrictions.
“Right now we have a federal government that likes making rules and controlling peoples’ lives,” said Allan Chatenay, who was returning to Calgary from Dallas.
“It’s sort of like the rest of the world has moved on (from COVID-19 restrictions) and Canada is stuck a year back.”
CTV News learned Monday that Ottawa plans to scrap random testing at airports, remove the vaccine requirement for travellers entering the country and making the controversial ArriveCAN app optional by Sept. 30.
Chatenay says it’s a step in the right direction, but mask mandates on planes and trains also need to be eliminated.
