Summer Interns Break World Record With Food Donation [Video]

A group of summer interns at a grocery store chain based in Michigan broke a Guinness World Record.

24 interns at SpartanNash built the world’s largest word made of packaged food using 5,791 items.

On July 20, interns and volunteers across the company worked together to build the word “SpartanNash”. When it was done, the word measured 150 feet long and 16 feet deep. Food items used to create the huge word included canned corn, green beans and fruit cocktail as well as boxed potatoes, brownies, cereal and pasta.

All products used during the event were donated to Buist Community Assistance Center — a nonprofit organization focused on providing food and clothing to community members in need.

“This was an incredible opportunity for the SpartanNash interns to get experience coordinating on a big goal as a team,” said Andy Clausen, SpartanNash’s vice president of National Accounts. “We planned this to allow for …
