For The Love Of Alex provides urgent funding for pets needing emergency veterinary care that their loving families cannot afford. Alex, our namesake, sadly passed away on May 9, 2022, at 18 years old. Alex inspired our founder Elizabeth to start a nonprofit to help low-income families pay for urgent veterinary care for their pets. Alex was her inspiration after he became extremely sick when he was 10 and needed surgery to remove painful bladder stones. Alex was lucky, Elizabeth had the money to pay for his surgery, but she thought about all the other pets out there that are euthanized or surrendered to a shelter because their family could not afford their medical expenses. Alex II was found abandoned and neglected on the busy streets of Philadelphia. A kind animal lover called an animal rescue to see if they could save him. Alex had a severe upper respiratory infection; he had multiple wounds that healed from fending for himself. Alex was rescued and he was neutered, tested for FIV/FELV, and vaccinated. We were not looking for another kitty. However, we saw this beautiful fur baby who needed a home and had an uncanny resemblance to our beloved Alex. FTLOA officially adopted Alex II from Meraki Animal Sanctuary in Philadelphia on July 24, 2022. Please welcome Alex II to the FTLOA family! You can help Alex II raise funds to help needy pets here: https://www.fortheloveofalex.org/alex.

Registration is now open for the 2022 Saving Pets Challenge! The Michelson Found Animals Saving Pets Challenge is an annual online fundraising campaign that benefits organizations dedicated to improving the quality of life for companion pets and their humans. Organizations from around the country will raise money and compete for $150,000 in grant prizes to put toward innovative programs that expand lifesaving capacity in their communities. This year, Michelson Found Animals Foundation partnered again with Mighty Cause, for a campaign designed to help you raise money, awareness and donors through a friendly fundraising competition. For more info and to register visit https://www.savingpetschallenge.org. The Challenge begins Wednesday, September 1 through Thursday, September 30. We are Michelson Found Animals, a nonprofit with a focused mission: Saving pets, Enriching lives. We love pets, but they aren’t the best arbiters for their own cause. Don’t worry, they’re not offended by that. They give us endless love, compassion, loyalty, and cuddles. It’s our end of the bargain to give them food, shelter, protection, and endless tummy rubs. That’s why it’s our mission to put pets in homes and keep them there – because all pets are meant to be with good people.
