Venture capital is just one source of funding available to early-stage companies. These sources both compete with and complement VC money. They range from existing methods such as angels and debt vehicles to new sources like crowdfunding. Austin is home to a growing variety of options for this alternative capital and so we are going to try something new with this episode. In this episode, we have 4 mini-interviews with individuals that are active in this space. This session will be presented by Cassie Carter, PhD, Vice President, West Region Director, Campbell & Company and Dan Nevez, PhD, Vice President, Executive Search, Campbell & Company. Cassie brings 30 years of experience to her work where she builds a shared understanding how organizational strengths can be leveraged to achieve fundraising success. Cassie was Associate Vice President for Development at Hawaii Pacific University and Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and Executive Director of Montana Outdoor Science School. She is chair of Pierce College Foundation and holds a doctoral degree in Teaching and Learning from University of Southern California. Dan brings 30 years of professional experience, including retained executive search, to his work and has successfully placed over 170 senior executives at regional and national nonprofits and associations. Prior to his work at Campbell & Company, Dan served as principal at a premier national executive search firm and was a museum curator and socio-economic historian. He received his master’s degree and completed his doctoral studies at the University of Chicago.
