My name is John Casper. I’m the communications coordinator for Winona Area Public Schools in Winona, Minnesota. So, this will be my second full year in the in the group. I didn’t really have anybody to collaborate with, commiserate with, or celebrate with. That’s the biggest selling point for me of the membership group, was just having that community to rely on, to get you through the tough times, but also celebrate the really good times. Teachers should be talking with each other about how to better serve their students. Principals talk with each other about how to better serve their teachers, but if you’re a one-person communication shop you don’t have that network in your school district. So, it is important for you to have a group of people to rely on, to challenge you from time to time as well. This is really your, personal learning community or your professional learning community and they will push you to get better.MORE RESOURCES:Free Video Training: Learn the simple secrets behind social media for K12 schools! Today’s #k12prtip covers one easy fix in Facebook’s New Pages Experience so you can allow photos to be posted in the comments. Check it out!Hey, there. It’s Andrea with a little K-12 PR Tip. Now, if you are interested in getting people to submit pictures in the comments of your Facebook page, there’s a very easy setting to open up in your Facebook page to allow people to post pictures or videos and comments, but with new Pages experience, it is challenging to find. Let me show you how easy.First, you wanna make sure that you’re logged into your page and in the upper right hand corner, go to Settings and Privacy, Settings, then head over to Privacy and then you’re gonna wanna go to Pages and Tagging. Under that, it’s gonna say who can post on your page. You’re gonna toggle from Only to Me to Everyone and that’s it. Now, people will be able to post comments with pictures or videos in your post. Now, I would recommend not keeping this on all the time because they can make new posts, they can start new conversations on your page, but this is the easy way to open it up. This is great for back-to-school photos or when there’s special dress up days. You can really get a lot of great pictures from parents. So good luck, we’ll see you next time.MORE RESOURCES:Free Video Training: Learn the simple secrets behind social media for K12 schools!
