Top 5 Things to do in Colorado Springs
5: Garden of the Gods – Free admission! This is a beautiful park with really cool rock formations! Plenty of rocks for the kids to climb on without being to dangerous.
4: Penny Arcade – located near the Manitou Incline. This is a fun place to take the kids. We spent 10 dollars total and split the quarters between 4 kids and played games for about 30 minutes.
3: Manitou Incline – This is one of the most popular hiking trails in Colorado. You gain over 2000 feet of elevation in less than 1 mile. This hike is totally free though you do need to make reservations.
2: Pikes Peak – America’s Mountain! This monster of a mountain stands at 14,115 feet high! There are several ways to get to the top. We chose to drive to the top. The drive to the top was alot of fun and pretty scary at times. To drive to the top there is a fee which was dependant on how many people was in your car. We had 6 people total in the car and paid 50 dollars to drive to the top. There is also a train ride you can take to the top. The price for this was way outside of our budget with ticket prices ranging from 50-60 dollars per person. There is also a hiking trail to the top but this hike will take you an entire day if you are an athletic person and good at hiking. The views at the top are worth choosing one of the three options to get to the top.
1: Blodgett Peak – This mountain is located just outside the Air Force Academy. This mountain stands at 9,429 feet with incredible views at the top. The trail to the peak is rated as difficult. If you are looking for a challenging hike this is the hike for you! This was an incredibly and challenging hike that you will not want to miss. This is my favorite hike in Colorado.
