Urban Gardening Initiatives | City of Edmonton [Video]

The City Farm project was introduced in the summer of 2020 as a pilot to help Edmontonians access safe and affordable food due to supply chain issues and unemployment as a result of Covid-19.  In May 2020, we broke ground and began to repurpose existing land to use for agricultural production of root vegetables and other produce in demand for Edmonton’s Food Bank. Food production is an essential service and the City of Edmonton is thankful to be able to play a part in growing fresh, healthy food to donate to Edmontonians who need it the most. 

The City of Edmonton will once again leverage City-owned land to create additional garden space where food can be grown by City employees that will be donated to Edmonton’s Food Bank. This season’s produce includes Swiss chard, kale, corn, carrots, beets, several varieties of squash, pumpkins and zucchini.

World Central Kitchen held an interfaith Celebration of Life to honor our heroes killed in Gaza. The memorial service was held at the National Cathedral in Washington, DC on Thursday, April 25.
