WACO, Texas — There were 211 citizens, officers and law enforcement personnel alike that took part in the Waco Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association’s (WCPAAA) Memorial Run Saturday morning at Cameron Park.
The annual event, held from 8 a.m. to noon, went along with national police memorial week, serving as a reminder of the sacrifices made by officers. WCPAAA President Terry Williams emphasized the importance of supporting both current officers and those who have made “the ultimate sacrifice.”
“It just builds that relationship between the public and the police department, and I think it’s going to be our biggest fundraising event of the year,” Williams said.
Highlighting the association’s mission to educate the public on policing practices, Williams spoke on the significance of bridging the gap between law enforcement and the community.
