Freedom, flexibility and a better chance of enjoying the trip. Those were the main takeaways from new research into solo travel.
According to a survey run by 1Cover Travel Insurance, some 65% of women questioned said they were interested in or intending to travel solo.
Those aged 25-34 said they regularly travelled solo (54%), followed by women aged 35-44 (14%).
Solo travel allowed for ‘greater freedom and flexibility’ for 63% of those surveyed while more than a third (35%) said they believed a solo trip ‘could be more enjoyable’ than travelling with others.
Solo female travel has experienced an upsurge in recent years according to major travel companies.
Flight Centre has reported that more than half of those booking solo trips overseas in the past 12 months have been women, while travel aggregator Kayak revealed a 36% increase in solo trips in 2023.
