People in the Juneau area now have a new option when it comes to urgent care. SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium opened a brand new urgent care center in Mendenhall Valley this week. KTOO reports the new facility by Safeway is now the third urgent care in town. Starting in the new year, services will include primary care, pediatrics, and optometry.

Also in Juneau: Say hello to the city’s next Deputy Police Chief. A native of Ketchikan, Krag Campbell has spent over 20 years with JPD, where he’s currently serving as a Lieutenant. His appointment is effective January 1st.

Volunteer registration is now officially open for the 2024 Iditarod. From trail communications, event set up, trail crew, dog handlers, office help. There are tons of opportunities to be a part of the Last Great Race.

And Christmas came a little early for dogs and cats at the Mat-Su Animal Shelter. The VCA Far Country Animal Hospital recently dropped off a large donation of pet food. …
