COMMUNITY CLASSROOM: Music teacher needs help buying xylophones for her students [Video]

ROCKY POINT, N.C. (WECT) – “Every child is a musician, and every child deserves a chance to play.” That’s what a music teacher at Rocky Point Elementary says. Laura Black is hoping to get musical instruments for all of her students but she needs help. She’s asking for donations through DonorsChoose, an online charity that helps teachers get funding for school projects. She’s hoping to get xylophones for each of her students.

“These xylophones will be used by students from preschool to 5th grade, to play everything from simple 2-note chords to improvisations over a 12-bar blues,” Ms. Black said on her DonorsChoose page. “The instruments are not only used in class but are also used at our concert performances throughout the year. In addition, these instruments are made to last and will serve students for many years to come.”
