Decatur-Morgan County’s Barrels of Love campaign set to kick off on Valentine’s Day [Video]

The March 1 collection day will take place at a new location.

DECATUR, Ala. — The 2024 “Barrels (and Boxes) of Love” non-perishable food drive for the Decatur/Morgan County area kicks off Wednesday, February 14th, with a few changes as to how the program works. Firstly, there will be no barrels this year – however, you can pick up boxes provided courtesy of International Paper at United Way of Morgan County or the Committee on Church Cooperation, which are both located on 1st St. NW in Decatur.

Donations of all sizes are welcome and appreciated. (If you are delivering large pallets of items, trucks with liftgates would be greatly appreciated.)

Items will help fill food pantries at the Salvation Army of Decatur and Committee on Church Cooperation as well as help cover Spring  Break for Backpack Feeding Programs at Decatur City Schools and Morgan County Schools.

Suggested items include

  • Peanut Butter
  • Canned Meats
  • Canned Soups
  • Ramen Noodles
  • Grits
  • Pasta
  • Pop-Top Food Items
