WEST TENN. – Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) public assistance grants may be available for certain churches, other houses of worship and non-profits in Tennessee counties affected by the recent storms and tornadoes.
The grants may help toward paying for emergency protective measures, debris removal and restoration of disaster-damaged facilities.
Prospective eligible organizations include those in Haywood, Hardin, Tipton, McNairy, Rutherford, Lewis, Wayne and Cannon counties.
The nonprofit organizations must provide a noncritical, essential social service such as community and senior citizen centers.
Small Business Administration’s low-interest disaster loans provide up to $2 million for repair or replacement of disaster-damaged property including furniture, fixtures and other essential contents.
Applicants must identify and report their needs by the May 6th deadline.
