How a kid is giving back on his 10th birthday [Video]

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Patrick Zubiran has been coming to St. Vincent de Paul to help feed those in need since he was eight years old. Now, for his 10th birthday, he has a big goal.

That goal?

“To collect 500 canned food items,” said Zubiran.

The inspiration to do this comes from a very important person in his life.

“On Sundays, I come and help my dad,” said Zubiran. “Help him, like, organize the pantries, and I noticed that it was kind of dimpling, the one over there. So I asked my dad, ‘”‘Dad, where is the rest of the food to stack? And he’s all, ‘That’s all, there is no more.’ And then I go, ‘Hmm, what if I make my own pantry?’”
