Local Target’s, nonprofits, first responders, Zydeco Hockey team unite for holiday shopping spree experience for kids [Video]

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Arriving in style, Santa Claus arrived with first responders at the Target on Millerville Road. 

Through a Heroes and Helpers grant, local Target locations were able to gift 40 local children with a $125 shopping spree for each child inside the store. 

Kids were selected through school systems and different youth organizations throughout the community who have been identified as in need and deserving, according to Crystal Pinchon, director of public relations of St. George Fire Department. 

“So, our police officers and our firefighters went out and scouted kids and talked to families, and they selected the kids based on their need and based on them being identified by schools and local youth agencies,” Pinchon said. 

Brother and sister, Terall and Bionca Henderson, were recipients of the grant and filled the carts with items for not only themselves, but for their family and friends.
