SAGINAW, Mich. (WJRT) – Saginaw Valley State University plans on building a multi-million dollar environmental science research station along the Saginaw River near the mouth of Saginaw Bay.
The facility will cost $10 million, with $7.5 million coming from capitol outlay funding approved by the State of Michigan and Gov. Gretchen Whitmer on Dec. 18. The remaining $2.5 million will come from existing capital reserve funds.
The facility will be used by SVSU students and faculty, area K-12 schools and community research partners.
SVSU says the research conducted will help improve public health and give a better ecological understanding of the Saginaw Bay watershed.
