United Way of Kenosha County to host Read Across Kenosha [Video]

The United Way of Kenosha County will host the 14th annual Read Across Kenosha community literacy event March 7, in conjunction with the National Education Association’s annual Read Across America Day.

Volunteers will gather at a kickoff event at One Voice Church, 7506 25th Ave., at 8 a.m. on March 7 to pick up materials, including books and other items to donate to their assigned classroom and an event t-shirt. From there, volunteers will head to their assigned classrooms to share their love of literacy with Kenosha’s students.

The event looks to engage more than 200 volunteers with classes across Kenosha and increase involvement and participation from last year. The deadline to register to volunteer online at https://www.kenoshaunitedway.org/read-across-kenosha-event is Feb. 9. The deadline to register a classroom for the event is Wednesday, Jan. 31.

Readings in classrooms will take place between 9 a.m. to noon based on volunteer and classroom availability.
