SCOTTSDALE, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) — Today, nearly 35 expecting military moms were given the gift of a lifetime. For the 12th year in a row, Operation Shower returned to the Waste Management Phoenix Open to provide its very own baby shower. “We’re all about just spreading joy, putting them in connection with similar families going through similar life events as them, and just giving them an incredible day,” said Lindsey Fletcher with Operation Shower.
From food, games, and prizes, the goal of Operation Shower is to help expecting moms who may not have family around to support their pregnancy. “It is really hard being away from family,” said military mom-to-be Kaleigh Johnson. Since 2007, the nonprofit has helped 9,000 moms from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and National Guard on military bases and other locations.
Each mom is gifted nearly $500 worth of baby items, from clothing to strollers, diapers, and much more. …
