Tech billionaire John Collison has adopted more than 40 abandoned horses, which are now free to roam on his lush country estate.
Three years ago, 32-year-old Mr Collison, who is believed to be worth around €6.5bn, paid €20m to acquire the Abbey Leix Estate, one of the country’s finest 18th-century mansions.
The Georgian property sits on 1,120 acres, including stands of specimen trees, walled gardens and farmland.
Last year Mr Collison – who cofounded global payments provider Stripe with his brother Patrick – held two fundraising days for the animal charity, My Lovely Horse, run by singer Cathy Davey.
It cares for over 800 rescue animals on its 40-acre site, from rabbits to pigs to horses.
And now, Mr Collison has offered to house more than 40 of the horses, which need a lot of room and are expensive to feed and care for.
