Yellowstone County property owners will be getting a new tax bill for the year with an increased amount due this spring.
Yellowstone County property owners who paid their taxes in full this past fall will receive another bill with an additional amount due by May 31. Those who paid the November installment of their property taxes will see the increase tacked onto the amount they owe this spring.
Yellowstone County Finance Director Jennifer Jones estimates the owner of a $300,000 home will have to pay about $70 more this year.
The county commissioners amended the mill levy, or property tax rate, for the 2024 fiscal year, adding 17.3 mills for a total of 96.5 mills, to comply with a state Supreme Court order. The November ruling said Montana’s 56 counties must collect the full …
